Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Pool C – Varunavi Mishra / Class 9

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav means elixir of energy of independence; of inspirations of the warriors of the freedom struggle; elixir of new ideas and pledges. Therefore this Mahotsav is a festival of awakening the nation; a festival fulfilling the dream of good governance; and a festival of global peace and development. In the history of the freedom movement, the journey of 75 years after independence is a reflection of the hard work, innovation, and enterprise of ordinary Indians. Whether in the country or abroad, we Indians have proved ourselves with our endeavours. We are proud of our Constitution and our democratic traditions. The mother of democracy, India is still moving forward by strengthening democracy, a country rich in knowledge and science that is leaving its mark from Mars to Moon. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India this far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable the honourable Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. The official journey of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ commenced on 12th March 2021 which started a 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of independence and will end post a year on 15th August 2022. Following are the five themes of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The freedom struggle of 1857, Mahatma Gandhi’s return from abroad, reminding the country again of the power of ‘Satyagraha’, Lokmanya Tilak’s call for “Purna Swaraj”, Azad Hind Fauj’sDelhi March” under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Who can forget the slogan of “Delhi Chalo”.

To save this treasure of history, every state, in every field is making efforts in this direction. The country completed the restoration of the Dandi Yatra site only two years ago. In Andaman, where Netaji Subhash had hoisted the tricolour by forming the country’s first independent government, the country has also given a grand shape to that forgotten history.
