Dramaturgy is the study of dramatic composition and the representation of the main elements of drama on the stage. Dramaturgy as a practice-based as well as practice-led discipline was invented by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, in the 18th century. Dramaturgy is distinct from play writing and directing, although the three may be practiced by one individual. Thus through theatre and stage students are made aware of the various eras of Literature and the evolution of Theatre as an art. Secondly it also assists the students in developing confidence and removing stage phobia. 

The Dramatics Club was initiated with this objective in mind. It first showcased a play on the theme of ‘Kanpur Ek Khoj’ in which a fierce battle between Nana Saheb and General Wheeler was depicted.
