This workshop is a golden opportunity for art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the centuries-old tradition of Phad painting, a vibrant and intricate storytelling art form deeply rooted in Rajasthani heritage.
Phad paintings are intricate narrative scroll paintings created on hand-woven coarse cotton cloth that undergoes a meticulous preparation process. The fabric is:
✔ Soaked overnight to thicken the threads.
✔ Stiffened using starch from rice or wheat flour.
✔ Sun-dried and polished with a moonstone for a smooth, glossy surface.
✔ Painted with completely natural colors derived from stones, flowers, plants, and herbs, mixed with gum and water.
Each Phad painting tells a mythological or historical tale, traditionally used by Rajasthani folk storytellers to depict the lives of deities and legends.
